As a professional football star, Tom Brady has a ton of hope for his kids‘ future careers. The iconic quarterback recently opened up about being the father of his three children and got extremely candid about his sons, John Moynahan, 11, and Benjamin Brady, 9, following in his athletic footsteps.

During a recent interview with Men’s Health, the 42-year-old hunk admitted that he had a tough time coming to terms with the fact that his youngest son Ben wasn’t gravitating towards hobbies that you would typically expect from a preteen boy — like sports, for example.

“When Benny came along, I thought he would be just like Jack,” Tom admitted to the outlet. “So I was like, ‘C’mon, let’s do this.’ And he was like, ‘Nope.’ And I was like, ‘What? No, do this!'” It wasn’t until Tom’s wife, Gisele Bündchen, stepped in that he understood what was going on.

“Gisele kept saying to me, ‘Would you effing understand that your son is different?’ It was hard for me,” he revealed. “I was like, ‘What do you mean? He’s a boy; he should just do all these things that I do.'” Luckily, the six-time Super Bowl champion was able to embrace his son’s uniqueness.

“The reality is that Benny just likes different things,” Tom explained. “And it’s great because now I just have to go do what he wants to do. When we do that, we have the best time. He’s like, ‘OMG, Dad, you’re so funny.’ He loves joking, and I joke back.”

The New England Patriots star admitted that he had a certain image in his mind after raising his eldest son. “Jack loves sports. He wants to try hard, and he never wants to disappoint his dad. That was me,” said the handsome athlete, who shares Jack with ex Bridget Moynahan. “I’d wake up early on weekends to do stuff with my dad. That’s why I didn’t party a lot. If Dad wanted to golf, I wanted to be there with him. And if I ever missed those things, it would crush me.”

Nowadays, Tom — who is also the dad of his 6-year-old daughter, Vivian Brady — is focusing on embracing his children for who they are. “Jack is just like me — he holds a lot in. Benny lets it all out. Vivi, she doesn’t care,” he dished. “They’re going to be their own selves, not who you want them to be.”

Tom is such an amazing parent!
