Savannah Guthrie and Mike Feldman‘s engagement story wasn’t exactly one to remember. During the Tuesday, Oct. 30 episode of Today, the TV personality revealed she actually broke up with her husband the day he proposed.
“We did break up on the day that we got engaged,” she said of their 2013 engagement. Without giving an exact reason why they called it quits, Savannah, 46, went on to reveal that the couple was visiting Turks and Caicos together and she “broke up with him in the morning and they got engaged in the afternoon.”
“That’s a quick comeback,” her co-host, Al Roker, joked. “It really was,” Savannah quipped back.
When Mike called into Today after their engagement, he admitted he was nervous to ask for Savannah’s hand in marriage, “but figured there’d be a secondary market for diamonds like that.” He said at the time: “I was very, very, very happy when she said yes. I’m the luckiest guy in the world.”
Savannah and Mike tied the knot in March 2014 and are now parents to two beautiful children, Vale, 4, and Charley, 22 months. But don’t expect the couple to grow their brood anytime soon because the mom-of-two recently revealed she’s done having babies. “I am so happy with my two little ones. I think that’s a wrap for me!” she was once overheard telling a fan while promoting her children’s book, Princesses Wear Pants, in NYC, according to Life & Style.
For now, she’s enjoying motherhood with her son and daughter. “It’s wild. It’s great. Luckily, Charley, the baby, is really pretty mellow and pretty easy — because Vale is such a pistol,” she said in a past interview. But, Savannah also confessed she’s suffered from major “mom guilt” since becoming a parent. “I have terrible mom guilt. It is so real. I’m hardly ever away from my kids. I mean, hardly ever. I feel sick inside when I’m not with them — I really do feel almost physically ill.” Luckily, she has Mike to comfort her when she’s feeling down!
