When you're a member of the British royal family, eyes are basically on you at all time. But, wouldn't you just want to come and go from your own home as you please without being bothered by the public? Well it turns out Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle do too — and they've developed the sneakiest way of getting in and out of Kensington Palace unnoticed.

According to the UK's Hello! magazine, the royals who reside at London's Kensington Palace usually travel by helicopter. But, apparently, the helicopter takes off and lands in nearby Hyde Park — not directly on the palace's grounds — to avoid a media frenzy. The Duke and Duchess of Cambdirge or Duke and Duchess of Sussex then travel by a chauffeured car in and out of the gates of their home, which are surrounded by armed guards.

Though the whole process may seem a tad extravagant, it's mostly about safety and discretion. Kate, William, Harry, and Meghan already create enough of a royal fan frenzy when they step out in public, so they have to be able to come and go from their home easily and in as low-key of a manner as possible.

Today, Kate, William — and their three children, Prince George, 4, Princess Charlotte, 3, and newborn Prince Louis! — Harry, and Meghan are undoubtedly the most famous royals who live at Kensington Palace, though the foursome does share the residence with seven other members of the monarchy.

According to the family's official website, the palace also houses the residences and offices of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester (aka Queen Elizabeth's cousin Prince Richard and his wife, Birgitte), the Duke and Duchess of Kent (aka the Queen's cousin Prince Edward and his wife, Katharine), and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent (aka another of the Queen's cousins and his wife, Marie).

Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter Princess Eugenie also reportedly lives at Kensington Palace and actually pays rent to occupy the quaint three-bedroom Ivy Cottage on the palace's grounds. Considering the palace's massive size, it's no surprise many royals call the famous abode home!
