She’s a mom first! Reese Witherspoon may be a busy star, but she always makes time for her family — and she proved that again recently when she took a day to hang out with her husband Jim Toth and their son Tennessee.
On Saturday, February 1, the 43-year-old and her love, 50, spent the day in Los Angeles alongside their only son, 7, together. The pair — who tied the knot in 2011 — stood proudly on the sideline while watching their little one at soccer practice. The Oscar winner also has two more kids — daughter Ava, 20; and son Deacon, 16 — with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.
The Walk the Line actress is all about being a mother. She once opened up about how it changed her and how she tackles the roles she chooses. “From the time I had her when I was 22 years old, it changed my entire world view. It made me a better person; less of an a–hole, honestly,” she said during the Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour for the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show. “And who I see as representations of women on film and how women are perceived and how women are written for is really important. And who directs and who creates is important as well.”
“But yes, thank you. It is really important to me,” she added. “And we all struggle with trying to do the right thing and put great work into the world for our kids, so they see an accurate representation of what the world is.”
The A-lister has also revealed how she felt becoming a mother for the first time. “I’ve been a mom since 1999. I got pregnant [with Ava] when I was 22 and delivered when I was 23,” she explained on her Hello Sunshine YouTube page. “To be totally honest, it was scary. I was scared. I didn’t know what it was going to do to my job or my career. Your entire life will change. Everything you believe, every piece of food you eat, every piece of independence you have. You can’t go out without thinking of another person.”
