Prince Harry Fights Back Tears as He Recalls Keeping Duchess Meghan’s Pregnancy a Secret

Duke of Sussex Prince Harry got very emotional at the 2019 WellChild Awards. When he took the podium to give an inspirational speech, he couldn’t help but think about the emotions he felt when he tried to keep Duchess Meghan‘s pregnancy a secret almost a year ago.

“Last year, when my wife and I attended, we knew we were expecting our first child — no one else did at the time, but we did — and I remember,” he said before almost breaking into tears. “I remember squeezing Meghan’s hand so tight during the awards, both of us thinking what it would be like to be parents one day.”

“And more so, what it would be like to do everything we could to protect and help our child should they be born with immediate challenges or become unwell over time,” he continued. “And now, as parents, being here and speaking to all of you pulls at my heartstrings in a way I could have never understood until I had a child of my own.”

During Harry’s heartwarming speech, he had to take a few minutes to collect himself. However the audience was very supportive and clapped for him the entire time until he was able to find what he wanted to say.

Harry’s wife also attended the WellChild Awards with him just a week after they ended their royal tour of Africa. Since the two royals have been spending so much time together, everyone has been noticing how great of an influence Meghan has been on Harry — including Queen Elizabeth.

“She’s seeing a more mature, responsible side of Harry, and she’s really impressed with how Meghan’s upped her game,” an insider recently revealed to Us Weekly. “This is the real Meghan. It’s not an act. And while she’ll never replace [Princess Diana], she’s determined to follow in her footsteps.”

Meghan has also been bringing out a brand new side of the queen. “People who have known her for a long time say she smiles more and is more relaxed,” the insider said.

Prince Harry definitely picked the right person to be his wife and mother to his children!
