Pierce Brosnan Celebrates 26-Year Anniversary With ‘Darling’ Wife Keely Shaye Smith
How sweet! Pierce Brosnan gave his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, a sweet shout-out when he celebrated the first time they met 26 years ago.
“My darling angel heart Keely, thank you for bringing such love and beauty into my life, for making these past twenty-six years the greatest joy of my life,” he wrote next to a throwback pic of the couple on Instagram on Thursday, April 9. “Happy anniversary my brown-eyed girl.”
In 2001, Pierce, 66, and Keely, 56, tied the knot after they initially met in 1994. However, before he was wed to the journalist, the Mamma Mia! star was married to late actress Cassandra Harris from 1980 to 1991. “[Cassie] made me the man I am, the actor I am, the father I am,” Pierce once said about his former flame, who died from ovarian cancer in 1991. “There is an incredible cruelty in it all, losing a person you shared everything with.”
The actor didn’t know if he would ever find love again, but everything became certain once he met Keely, who was working as a TV correspondent at the time. “He was captivating,” she told People in a 2001 interview. “Tall, dark and handsome — everything that everybody would immediately be attracted to. He had this mischievous sparkle in his eyes. I thought, ‘Wow! Wow!’”
After courting her for a few days, Pierce took Keely on a lovely date. “[We] sat down under the stars and he held my hand. There were fireworks going off over our heads, and Kenny Loggins was singing. We talked until 3 in the morning,” she recalled. “I understand why women find him sexy because he is an appealing man. He really likes and appreciates women.”
Being with the dark-haired beauty made Pierce believe that anything is possible. “I found a great woman in Keely Shaye,” he said. “Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good.” Aww!
