Meghan Markle’s Half Brother, Thomas Markle Jr., Hopes Baby Archie Shows Her ‘The Importance of Family’

Uh oh! Just days after Meghan Markle gave birth to her and Prince Harry‘s first baby, a son named Archie, Thomas Markle Jr. is speaking out. The Duchess of Sussex’s half brother — who has made public outcries in the past — wants her to give her estranged family a second chance.

“Hopefully this baby will help mend the family rift. We’d all love to meet the baby and become a part of his life — especially my dad,” he told The Sun. “I’m hoping that becoming a mother will open up her eyes and shed light on what family means. Maybe she will see the importance of family now — and open up to my dad and let him be part of the baby’s life.”

“She should let the family come over and meet the new baby,” Thomas Jr. adds. “Hopefully she won’t be unfair and withhold him from everybody. I hope she’ll reach out and make the baby a part of everybody’s life.”

Meghan’s half-brother’s statement comes just two days after the former Suits actress’ dad, Thomas Markle, commented on her first baby’s birth. Thomas, who has been estranged from his famous daughter ever since he bailed on attending her royal wedding and walking her down the aisle in May 2018, has been quite vocal in the past when it comes to bashing the royal family.

“I’m delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well,” he said in a statement to The Mirror. “I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honor. God bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and God save the Queen.”

Fans of the royal family were over the moon happy when Harry and Meghan announced that she had given birth on Monday, May 6. The brunette beauty welcomed a healthy and beautiful baby boy, the royal couple’s Instagram confirmed in an official statement.

“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz,” the post reads. “The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.”
