The moment we have been waiting for is here — Meghan Markle has officially given birth to her first royal baby with husband Prince Harry! Congratulations are in store for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after the new mom gave birth to a baby boy on May 6.

The 37-year-old made history after welcoming the little bundle of joy, the royal couple’s Instagram account confirmed in an official statement.

“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz,” the post reads. “The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.”

Ahead of the arrival of their first child, Harry and Meghan have been excitedly preparing. Just weeks before Baby Sussex was born, the former Suits actress and her royal beau packed up their Kensington Palace belongings and moved into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

“The trucks finished delivering the final furniture and home items,” a source shared to Us Weekly in early April, adding that they spent “their first night in the cottage” just days later. “The cottage is much more private, and they wanted that for the arrival of the baby.”

The insider added that the new parents are even more excited about having a warm and comfortable home in which to raise their first child. “Harry and Meghan are very happy with how the cottage turned out,” they dished. “They are looking forward to really starting their lives together on their own. Now everything is all set up and perfect.”

Harry and his bride — who tied the knot in a romantic and televised royal wedding in May 2018 — nearly broke the internet last fall when they announced they were expecting. An official statement released by Kensington Palace in October 2018 revealed the exciting news.

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019. Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public,” the message read.

Not long after the Meghan’s baby news, Kate Middleton welcomed her third child, 11-month-old Prince Louis, with husband Prince William. The Duchess of Cambridge is also mom to Prince George, 5, and Princess Charlotte, 3. At the time, royal expert Katie Nicholl dished some details on Harry’s future life as a dad.

“My sources are saying that Prince Harry, particularly, is very keen to start a family pretty soon after the royal wedding,” the royal insider said. “He’s made no secret about wanting children.” It looks like the sources weren’t far off at all — we can’t wait to meet Baby Sussex!
