Royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are already back to their old routine just days after they recently welcomed their first royal baby, a boy, on Monday, May 6. While Harry, 34, has already opened up about becoming a new dad, now we’re hearing from Meghan, 37, about what it has been like to step into the role of mom for the first time.
“It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing,” the former Suits star gushes in her first interview since she gave birth earlier this week, stepping out to reveal the babe’s first photos on Wednesday, May 8. “I mean, I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy.”
“He has the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm,” Meghan — wearing a gorgeous white coat dress — continues, with Harry joking about where the little one gets that from. “He’s just been the dream so it’s been a special couple of days.”
As for who he looks like more, Meghan said they were still trying to figure that out about him. “Everyone says that babies changed so much over two weeks,” Harry notes, “we’re basically monitoring how the changing process happens over the next month, really. His looks are changing every single day, so who knows.” That said, they did joke that the babe already has “a little bit of facial hair” and they think that’s “wonderful.”
“Parenting is amazing,” Harry adds. “We’re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy and be able to spend some precious times with him as he slowly, slowly starts to grow up.”
Next up, the royal couple will be introducing their newborn to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and grandfather, Prince Philip. “It’ll be a nice moment to introduce the baby to more family,” Harry explains, “and my mom is with us, as well.”
“Thank you everybody for all the well-wishes and the kindness,” Meghan gleams before they leave. “It just means so much.
Meghan and Harry want to raise their little bundle of joy a lot more different than how Kate Middleton and Prince William raised Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3 and Prince Louis, 1. “They are going to be even more hands-on than William and Kate, and that’s saying something!” a source told Closer Weekly. “They want to build up their children’s self-confidence by letting them speak their minds and gently correcting when they misbehave.”
Although it’s too early to tell the traits that Harry and Meghan’s new baby picked up from them, we’re sure he’ll grow up to be just as lovely as his parents. He’s got a whole life ahead of him to do it, too!
