Kate Middleton's Christmas Day Outfits: See Royal Holiday Looks

Duchess Kate (née Middleton) has no trouble looking gorgeous every day of the year, but on Christmas, the mom of three always steps her royal fashion up a notch. With the 2020 holiday season in full swing, what better way to celebrate than by revisiting all of Kate’s most stylish looks over the years?

The Duchess of Cambridge first joined the royal family’s festivities in December 2011, eight months after she tied the knot with husband Prince William in April of that year. For the occasion, Kate looked captivating in an all-burgundy ensemble.

For their second Christmas together in 2012, the brunette beauty and the Duke of Cambridge chose to spend December 25 with the Middletons. The lovebirds rang in the joyful holiday with her mom, Carole Middleton; dad, Michael Middleton; and siblings, Pippa Middleton and James Middleton.

Since then, however, the royal duo have celebrated nearly every Christmas with Queen Elizabeth and the royal family at the monarch’s famed Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England. Fortunately for fans, Kate’s picture-perfect Christmas Day outfits just keep getting better and better!

Aside from the beloved royal’s enviable style, one of the best parts of Kate and William’s huge Christmas extravaganza is getting to see the look of joy on the faces of their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Each year, the couple will give fans a glimpse inside their life at home to commemorate the holiday.

“Merry Christmas!” Kate and Will wrote alongside a black and white photo of the proud dad with George, Charlotte and Louis, which was taken by the duchess, via Instagram in December 2019. “We wish all our followers a very happy and relaxing Christmas Day.”

We bet the Cambridges can’t wait to celebrate this year’s upcoming holiday, but Christmas 2020 is going to look a little different for the royal family. Considering Elizabeth canceled her annual celebration at Sandringham, Buckingham Palace announced in early December, fans are wondering how Kate and Will are going to spend the holiday.

Fortunately, it seems Her Majesty is “coming up with a plan B,” an insider told Closer Weekly. Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, royal aides were “warning” Elizabeth that holding the large event could be a very bad idea.

Even though she “would love [nothing] more than to see her family reunite,” the queen is taking the COVID-19 outbreak very seriously. “She’s [planning] some sort of smaller gathering with very close family,” the source explained.

2011

For her very first Christmas with the royal family in 2011, Kate looked incredible in an eggplant-colored dress coat accessorized with a matching velvet hat and clutch. Under her jacket, she wore a black dress and matching tights, as well as a pair of suede platform pumps by Mascaró.

She also stepped out wearing a new pair of gold earrings that featured green amethysts and diamonds. Many royal fans assumed they were a Christmas gift from William!

2013

After spending 2012 Christmas with the Middletons, Kate and William returned for the royal’s holiday party in 2013. On Christmas Day, she donned a blue and green plaid dress coat designed by Alexander McQueen. She also rocked a matching velvet fascinator, black tights and a pair of tall suede boots.

2015

Kate chose forest green as the color scheme for her 2015 holiday outfit. She wore a patterned Great Plains dress under her long wool coat designed by Sportmax.

She accessorized the outfit with a matching green velvet fascinator, black over-the-knee suede boots, gloves, green amethyst earrings and a diamond brooch with acorns and oak leaves.

2016

Kate, William and their kids spent Christmas 2016 with the Middletons in Berkshire, England. While attending a church service with her family, the duchess looked gorgeous in a belted coat which featured a faux-fur collar. Underneath, she wore a black turtleneck dress and paired the outfit with a matching maroon clutch and fringed leather pumps.

2019

In December 2019, the loving mom donned a double-breasted gray coat with a fur-lined collar and matching cuffs. She topped it off with a dark green fascinator. Christmas Day in 2019 was special for Kate and Will considering it marked the first year George and Charlotte joined their parents for the walk to church.
