Jennifer Lopez Jokes About Alex Rodriguez Being Husband No. 4: ‘I Was Very Weary After Everything I’ve Been Through’

Fourth times the charm?! Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez‘s hot and heavy romance has been the talk of the town ever since their picture-perfect proposal back in March. Even though Jen has been receiving some criticism regarding her previous dating history — her marriage to Alex will be her fourth — the Second Act star couldn’t help but make a joke of the situation.

During a visit to the SiriusXM studios on Wednesday, April 3, the 49-year-old beauty made light of the sticky situation after one of the show’s hosts asked about the moment she knew the former MLB star was the one. “[You mean] to get married again?” she joked, causing the room to erupt in laughter.

“I was very weary after everything I’ve been through,” J. Lo explained. Before A-Rod, 43, Jen didn’t have the best of luck when it came to finding true love. She was previously married to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd and Marc Anthony — with an engagement to Ben Affleck thrown in the mix, too. “I don’t know. Probably about a year in, you know, I was just sussing it out until then.”

Following Alex’s romantic beachfront engagement, Jen opened up for the first time about the 16-carat diamond ring that her soon-to-be hubby surprised her with while on vacation in the Bahamas. “We’re really happy,” the World of Dance host gushed to People in mid-March. “We have [an] appreciation for where we are in our lives today, and that’s what we’re enjoying the most,” he added.

While the scene — which featured a romantic fire and sunset — was perfect for an amorous engagement, a source close to the pair dished that Jen “didn’t know” what Alex was scheming and he completely caught her by surprise.

“They’ve talked about marriage and have always planned to spend the rest of their lives together, but they were so happy with exactly how things were, they weren’t sure if they wanted to go down that road. It’s almost like they didn’t want to jinx it,” the insider told Us Weekly at the time of the highly anticipated proposal.

“Marriage is something that became important to both of them and their kids,” the source added, referring to Jen’s kids, 11-year-old twins Max and Emme with Marc, and Alex’s daughters — Ella, 10, and Natasha, 14, with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis. “They know they want to make this commitment to forever together.” We have a feeling Jen and Alex’s nuptials will be the wedding of the century!
