He didn't see it coming.
Andrew Silverman, the ex-husband of Simon Cowell's current girlfriend Lauren Silverman, is speaking out for the first time about the scandal that rocked his family back in July of last year.
Silverman admits he was "shocked" to find his private life thrust into the spotlight after it was revealed his wife was having an affair and was pregnant with the X-Factor judge's child.

"It was a fascinating experience, unexpected and shocking...I learned a lot, moved forward," says Silverman, who shares joint custody of the couple's 8-year-old son Adam.
The businessman, who runs the family property firm Andalex with brother Alex, explains how his work has been a nice distraction from the constant tabloid fodder.
"My core business has continued to move forward...I just wanted to refocus on what I do," shares the 37-year-old about getting back to normal. "I learned a lot about myself as an individual, the importance of family. My focus has been on my son throughout the whole ordeal."

Silverman acknowledges that the divorce was particularly brutal due to the public nature of his marriage's demise.
"Being in the public spotlight is not something I envy. It’s never been my way," says the multimillionaire. "Privacy has tremendous value. I’ve tried to be as quiet as possible even though everyone wants to hear about this hoopla."
And despite his ex-wife's sudden rise to fame, he believes her first priority is still their son's well-being. "I think for both of us, making sure our son has a normal environment is the primary focus," Silverman says.
Lauren now splits her time between an expensive New York City apartment and Cowell's London home. She gave birth to the duo's son Eric on Valentine's Day at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.

The socialite's former brother-in-law also commented on his brother's split, placing more blame on the 36-year-old Florida native.
'You can’t take someone who has very poor roots and turn them into a golden child, but that’s what the media tried to do," said Alex Silverman, "to turn his ex-wife into a great person to benefit a celebrity."
The loyal brother heaped praise on his sibling for how he handled the ordeal, telling the New York Observer, "I give him a lot of credit for everything he went through and that he was able to keep his mind focused despite what was going on."
Andrew is currently living in an Upper East Side co-op with his son, who attends the prestigious Riverdale Country School in Manhattan.
