‘The Crown’ Casts Emerald Fennell As Camilla, Duchess Of Cornwall For Upcoming Season 3
More The Crown casting news has just been revealed and, frankly, we couldn’t be more excited about the latest Season 3 update. On the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 23, it was announced that British actress Emerald Fennell will portray Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall in the hit Netflix show’s upcoming episodes.
“I’m absolutely over the moon, and completely terrified, to be joining so many hugely talented people on The Crown,” Emerald, 33, said in a statement released via The Crown‘s official Twitter account. “I absolutely love Camilla and am very grateful that my teenage years have well prepared me for playing a chain-smoking serial snogger with a pudding bowl haircut.”
Netflix previously revealed that 28-year-old actor Josh O’Connor will portray Prince Charles next season, which is set to premiere in 2019. “I am thrilled to be joining the firm for the next installment of The Crown. Seasons three and four will follow some of the most turbulent events in the Prince of Wales’s life and our national story and I’m excited to be bringing to life the man in the midst of it all. I’m very aware it’s a formidably talented family to be joining, but reliably informed I have the ears for the part and will fit right in,” Josh said in a statement.
It has also already been revealed that Olivia Colman has taken over the coveted Queen Elizabeth role from Claire Foy, Helena Bonham Carter replaced Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret, Marion Bailey has taken over the part of The Queen Mother from Victoria Hamilton, and Tobias Menzies replaced Matt Smith as Prince Philip.
Season 3 of The Crown will take place in the mid-1960s and focus a lot on Prince Charles’ budding relationship with Camilla Shand, years before she became the royal’s second wife. Though it was previously rumored that Princess Diana will also be introduced in the next season, it has since been confirmed that Diana’s character won’t show up in the storyline until Season 4. We can’t wait until The Crown returns next year!
