Cindy Crawford Explains Why She Allowed Daughter Kaia to Pursue a Modeling Career: ‘She Was Prepared’

Goals! Cindy Crawford‘s rise to international superstardom in the late 1980s proved she is one of the most beloved names in the business, and it seems the stunning supermodel has no problem with her daughter following in her footsteps.

While recently attending the “Their Lives in Pictures” panel at Vogue‘s Forces of Fashion Summit in New York City, the iconic star, 55, opened up about letting her 18-year-old daughter, Kaia Gerber, pursue a career in the modeling industry.

“I had no trepidation at all about saying yes to Kaia,” Cindy, who was joined by her gorgeous little girl at the prestigious event, revealed to the audience on Thursday, October 10. “I felt comfortable and I was like, ‘Go for it, have fun and I’m always here if you have a question.'”

Speaking up regarding her decision to allow her daughter to follow her dreams comes after haters criticized the Fair Game actress. Cindy defended her choice of exposing Kaia to the modeling industry at such a young. “By the time Kaia started, she was pretty well-versed in designers and young photographers,” she dished. “She was prepared.”

The brunette beauty — who is also the mom of son Presley Gerber, 20, with longtime husband Rande Gerber, 57 — continued by addressing the social media trolls who had thoughts about her daughter’s career. “Now everyone’s a model in their everyday life,” she said to the panel, explaining that she never once regretted letting Kaia follow her passion. “Every young person is modeling in their own life.”

This isn’t the first time Cindy has chatted about her daughter’s booming modeling career. During an interview with Net-A-Porter in March, the According to Jim actress revealed that she couldn’t really stop Kaia from pursuing a modeling career — even if she wanted to.

“It was a good thing that she couldn’t work on the runway until she was 16. There are laws about that. After that I couldn’t really hold her back,” she admitted to the outlet. “You hope that all of the advice and guidance and role modeling that you did sticks. That’s the stage of parenting when you think, ‘OK, hope you can fly.'”

We’d say Kaia is certainly following in her mom’s supermodel footsteps!
