“Every step I take feels a little shaky. It’s such a weird feeling that you wouldn’t know unless you have really bad anxiety. You feel like everyone is looking at you,” the 31-year-old star recently told Marie Claire magazine.
In March 2016, Chrissy — who welcomed her daughter, Luna, with husband John Legend in April 2016 — spoke out about her postpartum depression diagnosis for the first time.
“I couldn’t figure out why I was so unhappy. I blamed it on being tired and possibly growing out of [my career]: ‘Maybe I’m just not a goofy person anymore. Maybe I’m just supposed to be a mom,'” she said.
“When I wasn’t [working], I never left the house. I mean, never. Not even a tiptoe outside. I’d ask people who came inside why they were wet. Was it raining? How would I know — I had every shade closed,” Chrissy continued.
“Postpartum does not discriminate. I couldn’t control it. And that’s part of the reason it took me so long to speak up: I felt selfish, icky, and weird saying aloud that I’m struggling. Sometimes I still do,” she added.
During her new interview with Marie Claire, Chrissy candidly revealed her battles with postpartum and anxiety haven’t dissuaded her from wanting to expand her family with John in the future.
“I would definitely adopt or have foster children. But I loved being pregnant. Maybe I should be scared [of having PPD again], but I don’t know. It couldn’t be any worse than it was — could it?” she said.
