Charlize Theron Dresses Up As a Witch and Celebrates Halloween With Her Family at Disneyland

It’s that time of the year! Charlize Theron stars in blockbusters left and right, but when it comes to her family they are priority — and the actress reminded us of that by spending time with them at Disneyland.

The 44-year-old was spotted on Monday, September 30, with her mother, Gerda, and her two children, August and Jackson. However, they weren’t in regular attire, as they all decided to wear their Halloween costumes to the iconic park. The A-lister was seen dressed as a witch, as she rocked a black velvet dress with a pointy hat, all matched up with some black sneakers. On the other hand, her mother looked to be sporting a grasshopper costume.

The Hollywood star is well known for remaining private when it comes to her family, but she has opened up about them in the past. Earlier this year, Charlize revealed that her child Jackson, 7, is transgender. “Yes, I thought she was a boy, too,” the Oscar winner told Daily Mail in an interview. “Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said: ‘I am not a boy!’”

“So there you go! I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive,” the Monster star continued. “They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide.” Charlize also spoke about how she will always be in her children’s corner.

“My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be,” she told the outlet. “And I will do everything in my power for my kids to have that right and to be protected within that.” The Fate of the Furious costar revealed that she has her mom to thank for teaching her to be open-minded.

“You know, I grew up in [South Africa] where people lived with half-truths and lies and whispers and nobody said anything outright, and I was raised very specifically not to be like that,” she explained. “I was taught by my mom that you have to speak up; you have to be able to know that, when this life is over, you’ll have lived the truth you’re comfortable with, and that nothing negative can come from that.”
