Throughout her whole life, Carrie Underwood yearned for the love she eventually found with husband Mike Fisher. The beloved country singer — who celebrated 9 years of marriage with the Canadian hockey player on Wednesday, July 10 — recently opened up about their Hollywood romance and why falling in love with Mike was a dream come true.

“I feel like he is the person I was meant to be with,” the 36-year-old stunner gushed to People. “I had dated guys and kind of knew, like, ‘No.’ Nothing was ever really wrong, but nothing was really right either. With him, it was like a good partnership. It was an easy relationship to be in.”

The adorable couple first met in 2008 after Mike, 38, attended one of her shows. Soon after, the “Before He Cheats” singer and the former NHL star became an exclusive item. After dating for two years, the pair then tied the knot in summer 2010 surrounded by tons of their closest family and friends during a romantic ceremony in Georgia.

Carrie and Mike became parents in 2015 after welcoming their first child, son Isaiah Michael Fisher, 4. The duo then expanded their brood in January 2019 after baby No. 2, son Jacob Bryan Fisher, arrived. “I admire Carrie as a mom most,” Mike told the outlet. “She is so good with our boys and loves us all so well.”

Prior to Jacob’s arrival, Carrie underwent a ton of hardships. On top of having three miscarriages from 2017 to 2018, the American Idol champion also endured a broken wrist and a facial laceration that required 40-50 stitches after she suffered a fall at her former Nashville home in 2017.

Recalling the tumultuous time in her life, Carrie insisted that she wouldn’t have made it through without Mike’s support. “He is so levelheaded about everything, and when I was dealing with everything, not just emotionally but hormonally, when you’re going on that roller coaster of pregnant, not pregnant, pregnant, not pregnant, I was probably not very easy to love, to be honest,” the “Love Wins” songstress explained. “And to have somebody so even-keeled, he was my lifeline, keeping me grounded.”

They may look like they have the picture-perfect relationship, but Carrie dished that they’re “always working on” their communication. Despite their previous trials and tribulations, the blonde beauty couldn’t feel more grateful “to have that rock” in her “crazy life.” Carrie gushed, “It means more to me than he probably knows or than I could tell him.”

The feeling is totally mutual for Mike too. “Carrie’s so easy to love because she’s down to earth and genuine,” he said. “We laugh a lot, which I think is important.”

We couldn’t love Carrie and Mike more!
