Oh no! Paula Abdul may have given the performance of a lifetime at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, but there was one thing that got in the way — Julianne Hough‘s neck! The incident happened as the former American Idol judge sang and danced to a six-minute medley of her best hits to close the show.

The 56-year-old started her set on stage, but eventually made her way into the crowd. At one point, Paula — who performed some of her most famous songs including “Straight Up, “Opposites Attract” and “Cold Hearted” — threw her black hat into the crowd, accidentally whipping the former Dancing With the Stars pro in the neck by mistake. Oops!

Julianne, 30, appeared to be fine as she was seen laughing off the singer’s snafu, but she later took to Twitter to let her fans know that her neck became an accidental casualty. “The result of the honor of being hit in the neck by @PaulaAbdul’s flying hat!” Julianne wrote in tweet following the famous awards show. “Love you, babe!!!”

Paula, who donned a sexy sequin leotard as audience members left her with a standing ovation, quickly replied to the Grease Live! alum’s social media post. “OMG I’M PEEING MY PANTS!!!!! You know it was with love,” Paula hilariously quipped.

Just hours before Paula hit the stage, the Drop Dead Diva actress announced that she was officially launching her Las Vegas residency, Forever Your Girl, at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino this summer! The pop veteran took to Instagram to share the exciting news with her millions of fans.

“I am excited to finally share that my new Las Vegas residency, Forever Your Girl will begin at @flamingovegas this August!” Paula gushed. “I can’t wait to share my music with you at the heart of the Vegas Strip.” The new residency will begin on August 13 and feature 20 dates on the first leg, which runs through January 4, 2020.

It looks like Las Vegas is going to be shining a little brighter once Paula arrives!
