The best way to recover from surgery? Winning the lottery!
While resting at home from a recent surgical procedure, Joseph Amorese received a lottery ticket from his dad in a get-well card — and, much to his surprise, won a whopping $7 million from the scratch-off!
“I scratched the ticket and it was a good thing I was already sitting down because I was shocked. I was and still am in complete disbelief,” Amorese, 46, told 'ABC News.'

After checking to make sure he'd correctly calculated the winnings, Amorese phoned his wife, Jodi, at work to tell her the amazing news.

“I said, 'Honey, I think we won $7,000,000.' And there was silence on the other end for a long time. She was too stunned to talk," he said.

According to the Easton, Pa., native, the ticket was purchased by his father for just $1. When asked if sending his son lottery scratch-offs was a regular gift, the proud dad replied, "Yeah!”
“I’m retired and I have time on my hands. You know, you want them to get something but if they get $100, they’ll be happy. Most of us don’t usually think you’re going to hit the jackpot," he told 'ABC News' of his son's incredible winnings.
