Don't expect hit TV show Friends to follow in the footsteps of Sex and the City!
According to star Courteney Cox, who played neurotic chef Monica on the classic series, there will be no movie or reunion.
The brunette beauty effectively dashed all of our dreams during a recent appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman when the host asked whether there will be "a Friends thing going on" sometime soon.
"Well, once you say, ‘I’d like it,’ then they have to contact every other cast member and...then I get in trouble," shared the 49-year-old.
So to sum it up: "It’s not going to happen."
The actress further explained, "There's six friends and I have been trying to put together a cast dinner ten years...I mean, I can get the girls [Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow] to come, maybe Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc canceled last time, [David] Schwimmer lives here [in NYC], so it's just not going to happen."
And if our dreams weren't already crushed, Courteney added that a new storyline would be difficult given most of the filming took place in Monica's apartment, build on a soundstage (Spoiler Alert! The gang sells the place at the end of the series).
Her thoughts closely echo those of co-star Jennifer Aniston's back in 2012, when she told The Hollywood Reporter, "I can't imagine what [the reunion] would be...Friends is in your living room; Friends is not in a movie theater. It doesn't make sense to me. I think it would be going against its authentic self."
Lucky for us, we still see the occasional reunion between cast members. Jennifer, Lisa and Matthew Perry all guest-starred on Courteney's series Cougar Town and she repaid the favor by appearing on Matthew's short-lived comedy Go On.
What about a reunion on Matt LeBlanc's show Episodes?
