Despite rumors that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle don’t exactly get along, the two seemed to be best friends at the royal family’s annual Christmas Day church service in Norfolk, England on Tuesday, Dec. 25 alongside their husbands, Prince Harry and Prince William. Though Meghan, 37, looked amazing flaunting her baby bump in a navy blue outfit and Kate, 36, looked festive in a red dress coat, royal fans couldn’t help but notice that Kate’s three kids weren’t in attendance at the special family event.

According to Cosmopolitan UK, Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and eight-month-old Prince Louis didn’t attend the service for a very understandable reason — they’re just too young! The Cambridge kids are simply not mature enough to go to an event where they have to be still and be very quiet for a long and formal service.

Cosmopolitan UK reported that the tiny royals might have been very disruptive at the Christmas church service even though their dad, William, was previously able to attend the same event back in the day at age five. However, Charlotte, George, and Louis might have to wait until they are seven years old to attend Christmas church with the royals, the same age Harry was when he first went. Despite the Cambridge kids staying behind, we’re sure that Kate, Meghan, William, and Harry still had a great time together.

The two couples looked like they were on a double date in photos of them laughing and enjoying each other’s company on their way to the service. But according to The Sun, Kate and Meghan might have fooled us all because, apparently, their friendliness may have been an act.

Queen [Elizabeth] and [Prince] Charles have allowed the situation to play out without overtly interfering — but they both made it clear that Christmas was for the whole family to really come together,” a source told the news outlet. “That meant the two couples walking into church together as the Fab Four just like they had last year. Yes, it was awkward and uncomfortable given what’s gone on over the past 12 months. But the alternative of even more negativity on Christmas Day wasn’t worth thinking about.”
