Fans of Beverly Hills, 90210 have been waiting for a reboot ever since the show’s final episode aired in May 2000. But after Luke Perry‘s untimely death on Monday, March 4, an insider revealed that his former costar Shannen Doherty reportedly doesn’t think the beloved show should go on without him. “Luke was Shannen’s favorite in the cast,” an old friend of the Charmed star recently revealed to In Touch. “She’s devastated. She didn’t want to be in the reboot, she doesn’t even think they should do it without him. She just can’t believe he’s gone.”

America first fell in love with Luke — who sadly passed away at age 52 — when he got cast for the role of ’90s teen heartthrob Dylan McKay, who finds himself involved in a romance with Shannen’s character, Brenda Walsh, on 90210. Even though Luke and Shannen were actually never officially signed on to star in the newly-announced 90210 revival, the friend of the actress said she doesn’t think it’d be right for the show to leave him out. However, when Closer Weekly reached out to Shannen’s rep her spokesperson said, “That was never discussed. Shannen and Luke weren’t involved in the reboot.”

Just a few days before his death, Luke suffered a “massive stroke” on Wednesday, February 27. After the news of his stroke reached the public, tributes and prayers started flowing in for the beloved TV star. “My friend. Holding you tight and giving you my strength. You got this,” Shannen wrote on social media alongside a throwback pic of the two.

Then, just days later, tributes from the same people came in masses after the Riverdale star’s rep confirmed to Closer Weekly that he’d sadly passed “surrounded by his children, Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, stepfather Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder and other close family and friends.”

Shannen took to Instagram to share a series of photos of the two from over the years following Luke’s death. “Yesterday morning I got a phone call that devastated me. I’m struggling with this loss and am having a hard time with my thoughts,” the brunette beauty wrote. “But, my heart goes out to his family and friends who were blessed by his light in their (and mine) lives. Processing this is impossible right now.” We miss you, Luke!
