After news broke that Beverly Hills, 90210 star Luke Perry reportedly suffered “a massive stroke” on Wednesday, February 27, many of the 52-year-old actor’s former costars took to social media to wish him the best during this difficult time.
“My friend. Holding you tight and giving you my strength. You got this,” Shannen Doherty captioned a photo of herself and Luke from 90210 in a post shared on Thursday, February 28. Ian Ziering followed suit and also shared a throwback photo of himself and his friend via Instagram. “No words can express what my heart feels hearing today’s shocking news,” Ian, 54, penned in his caption. “Let us all say a prayer for his speedy recovery.”
TMZ was the first to report that Luke was hospitalized after suffering a stroke and a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department later confirmed to Closer Weekly that firefighters and an ambulance visited Luke’s Sherman Oaks, California home after someone called 911 for an unspecified medial request around 9:30 a.m on Wednesday.
Earlier this week, FOX announced that there will be a reboot for Beverly Hills, 90210 coming soon but Luke had not planned to be a part of the new series. “The [reboot] comes with a twist, however. The actors will not be playing their characters from the show, but rather heightened versions of themselves,” Variety previously reported. “Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason [Priestley], Jennie [Garth], Ian, Gabrielle [Carteris], Brian [Austin Green] and Tori [Spelling] reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a Beverly Hills 90210 reboot up and running. But getting it going may make for more drama than the reboot itself.”
Although Luke and Shannen will not appear on the revival, the show is expected to bring in a lot of views when it airs this summer and fans can’t wait to watch. “Ridiculously excited about the
#BeverlyHills90210 reboot!” one person wrote via Twitter. “Watched all the classic [episodes] about ten times!”
Stay tuned for more updates on Luke’s health in the coming days.
