Betty White’s Secret To Good Health Is Hot Dogs And Vodka (Exclusive)

Happy Birthday, Betty White! The iconic Hollywood star is ringing in her milestone 97th birthday today and to celebrate, we’re revealing Betty’s surprising secret to good health — hot dogs and vodka! “She lives on hot dogs and vodka. It’s her secret weapon,” the actress’ former Hot in Cleveland co-star Wendie Malick exclusively told Closer Weekly in a previous interview. “I don’t think it’s for everyone — don’t try it at home!”

In another interview, a friend of the star similarly joked to Closer, “We tease her that she has the diet of a 15-year-old boy. She figures she’s made it this far in her life eating whatever she likes, so there’s no reason to stop now.”

Lea Thompson, who worked with Betty on 2003’s TV movie Stealing Christmas, also once told us, “She can drink me under the table, she can swear me under the table and she can remember her lines better than me. She’s a rock star!”

Now that she’s older, Betty has said she loves being “spoiled rotten” by others and is really grateful to still be able to land acting jobs well into her 90s. “You get spoiled rotten. People bring you a chair, even if you don’t want to sit down,” she told Closer of her age, adding, “The fact that I have this kind of health at this age is really a blessing.”

“The fact that people still ask me and find things for me to do, I’m thrilled,” she continued. “There are those who think I’m going to be around forever, and they could be right!”

And don’t worry, Betty has no plans to retire from Hollywood anytime soon, according to Steven J. Boettcher, who directed the Betty documentary, Betty White: First Lady of Television. “She told me, ‘I’m going to be in the saddle forever. She loves working; she loves the challenge. She’s someone that we’re all better off for that she’s lived this long,” Boettcher exclusively told Closer in a recent interview.

Last year, Betty revealed her naughty 96th birthday wish to Closer. “Robert Redford,” she confessed. “But it never works. I try every year.” We hope 2019 is the year to finally bring Robert into your life, girl!
