While Meghan Markle is on maternity leave, Prince Harry has continued with his royal duties — next up was the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the Oval in London.

On Thursday, May 30, the 34-year-old attended the big event, which runs until July 14, and features the world’s top 10 teams, nine of whom are from the Commonwealth. This is quite the big deal, as not only are over one million people attending the matches, but 1.5 billion are expected to watch around the world.

While there, the Duke of Sussex met with kids of the Anthem Children from the Cricket World Cup Youth engagement program, proving once again that he is fantastic with children. Harry also met with students from the Henry Fawcett School who will be tasked with walking out as flag bearers, carrying the participating team’s flags.

Harry, who is all about inspiring others, also gave an incredible speech. What a day!

“The first ever Cricket World Cup took place in England in 1975, and I am delighted that the UK will once again play host to this wonderful global event featuring 10 incredible teams, who thanks to the UK’s diversity will feel like they are playing to a home crowd at every game,” Prince William‘s brother said during his speech. “Cities will come alive across the next six weeks as World Cup fever sweeps the nation once more.”

“Good luck to all the teams and thank you to everyone who has played a part in making this tournament happen. Trust me, you won’t want to miss any of it. I am now honored to declare the men’s World Cup of 2019 open,” Harry continued.

This isn’t the only sporting event Harry has been a part of recently — the duke also teamed up with polo player Nacho Figueras to play in a game in Rome to raise funds for Harry’s Sentebale charity — an organization that supports kids and young people affected by HIV in the African countries of Lesotho and Botswana.
