Prince Charles Hosts Friends George and Amal Clooney at Intimate Dinner Party — See the Pics!

George and Amal have always been good friends of the royal family. On Thursday, August 16, they reportedly took Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on a luxurious vacation to their house in Italy to unwind and get away from the spotlight. “The Clooneys had personally invited Meghan and Harry to their home at the beginning of the summer with an open invitation,” a source previously told Us Weekly. “George and Amal were so happy to host Meghan and Harry.”

Amal shared a few laughs with the Prince of Wales at the party. The last royal event she attended was Meghan’s lavish baby shower in New York City. She showed up to celebrate the Suits alum’s pregnancy in a beautiful red jumpsuit she paired with gold pumps.

Since Charles threw the party for his organization, it was very intimate and very different than his 70th birthday bash on Wednesday, November 14. For that festive occasion, Queen Elizabeth showed up and gave a sweet toast to her son. “It is a privilege for any mother to be able to propose a toast to her son on his 70th birthday,” she said. “It means that you have lived long enough to see your child grow up. It is rather like — to use an analogy I am certain will find favor — planting a tree and being able to watch it grow.”

Charles’s wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, wasn’t spotted at the party but Queen Elizabeth’s former private secretary, Charles Anson, told People that Camilla has been helping Charles to not get too “hung up” on royal life, saying: “She doesn’t let him get too overburdened by the woes of the world.”

Prince Charles gets very serious at royal events but, at home, he loves to spend time with his grandkids. “[Charles] will crawl about with them for hours, making funny noises and laughing,” his wife previously revealed in the BBC documentary, Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70. “My grandchildren adore him!”
