When my grandpa turned 70, we gave him a cake, sang that familiar birthday tune, and watched as he pretended to like the sweater we got him. When Prince Charles turned 70… well… let’s just say that his friends and family went all out for him.

According to the Daily Mail, Charles is going to remember this certain party at Buckingham Palace, which included a beautiful speech from his mom, Queen Elizabeth, and was attended by about 300 family and friends, including Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, of course. So what exactly went down at this party? Well, Prince Edward was there as “the Magical Bisector” and performed magic tricks like “sawing” Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, in half. Yep, it was that kind of night.

Of course, there was music, food, and entertainment, with Charles himself dancing with his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. Speeches were aplenty as well. Everyone from Prince Philip to Prince William gave a speech, with the latter talking about everything his father doesn’t enjoy: “Let me tell you all the things my father hates… red squirrels, the environment, traditional architecture.” Savage, Will, savage.

Plenty of famous faces arrived as well to celebrate Charles getting another year older. Singer and actor Gary Wilmot was there, as was Alfie Boe, Renee Fleming, and even Jools Holland, who performed three songs for Charles and company. Sure, it’s not Beyonce and Lady Gaga but it wasn’t my birthday party.

But let’s talk about what’s really important: the food. Charles was able to munch on salmon tartlet, poussin with autumn vegetables, and ice cream bombe. Pretty fancy if you ask me. And Charles wasn’t alone in enjoying that meal as Prince Albert of Monaco, King Simeon of Bulgaria, Princess Tatiana of Greece, and Princess Mary of Denmark were also all there. So just a tad different from the people you may see at your coworker’s office birthday party.

And you know who else made an appearance in honor of Charles? Good old Dame Maggie Smith and Dame Judi Dench. So let me recap this for you all: speeches from the Queen, Prince William, and more, performances from singers, magic tricks, people being “sawed” in half, fancy as all heck food, dancing, and all the royalty you can imagine. Oh, there were also Chinese acrobats — just for good measure.
