Nicole Kidman Says Hugh Jackman and His Wife Deborra-Lee Furness Were a ‘Part of Her Healing’ After Tom Cruise Divorce

That’s what friends are for! Nicole Kidman credits her pals Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, for helping her get through her very high-profile divorce with Tom Cruise.

“When I got divorced, Hugh and Deb were so much a part of my healing,” the 51-year-old said in an interview with Australian Women’s Weekly. “They were some of my best friends through that period.”

The Big Little Lies star and the Mission: Impossible actor, 56, parted ways in 2001 after 10 years of marriage. They do share two adopted kids — Isabella, 26, and Conner, 24. Those weren’t the only children that the Oscar winner had, as she eventually married her current husband, Keith Urban, in 2006 and went on to have daughters Sunday, 10, and Faith, 8.

As for Tom, he married Katie Holmes in 2006 and they now share a daughter, Suri Cruise. The couple split in 2012.

This isn’t the first time that the Destroyer actress has opened up about her relationship with the Top Gun star — Nicole once revealed how she mainly stayed indoors during her marriage to Tom. “Because I was married at 23 years old, I wasn’t going to parties or I wasn’t going out a lot. I was pretty much at home,” she explained on October 22 on Today. “I had my first child at 25 and I was married, I was in a family. So my sense of being in the world was … I was working, or I was at home.”

Those comments came as a clarification after Nicole made a very bold statement in an essay for New York Magazine. “I married for love, but being married to an extremely powerful man kept me from being sexually harassed,” the Aquaman costar said at the time. “I would work, but I was still very much cocooned. So when I came out of [the marriage] at 32, 33, it’s almost like I had to grow up.”

We’re very glad to see that Hugh and his wife were able to help Nicole through a rough patch in her life. It certainly seems like all parties are doing well now!
