Michelle Obama Reveals The Advice She Would Give Meghan Markle On Dealing With Fame — ‘Don’t Be In A Hurry’

Becoming a celebrity overnight can be overwhelming for most people. You have to deal with the paparazzi constantly hounding you down for photos and most importantly, you cannot spiral out of control. So when Meghan Markle quickly rose to fame after she started dating Prince Harry, the former First Lady Michelle Obama couldn’t help but take notice. In her recent interview with Good Housekeeping, Michelle gave the Duchess of Sussex some great advice, to deal with her newfound stardom.

“My biggest pieces of advice would be to take some time and don’t be in a hurry to do anything,” she explained. Since Michelle became a notable celebrity shortly after Barack Obama campaigned to be the 44th President of the US, she knew exactly what to tell Meghan.

“I spent the first few months in the White House mainly worrying about my daughters, making sure they were off to a good start at school and making new friends before I launched into any more ambitious work,” Michelle revealed. “I think it’s okay — it’s good, even — to do that. What I’d say is that there’s so much opportunity to do good with a platform like that — and I think Meghan can maximize her impact for others, as well her own happiness if she’s doing something that resonates with her personally.”

Michelle’s advice might be just what Meghan needs since she’s pregnant with her first royal baby. As soon as Meghan and Harry’s child arrives next spring, they are sure to get even more attention from their fans than usual, which can also mean an even busier schedule. And that’s something that Michelle knows how to deal with.

“It probably won’t come as a surprise to anyone that sometimes it was a real challenge [living in the White House] to keep up with the pace,” she said. “Then on top of the demands of our schedules, I’d usually need to wake up long before Barack to get my hair and make-up done and get dressed for a public event.”

Though it took Michelle some time, she always looked stunning with her husband at every event that they attended. Obviously, Meghan and Harry don’t need any style notes, but Michelle’s advice about dealing with fame seems to be perfect for the newlywed royal!
