On Commonwealth Day, Meghan Markle knew exactly what she was doing when she stepped out to make Canadian candy with her husband, Prince Harry, in a beautiful green coat and a matching emerald dress.

Given the fact that Meghan’s coat was crafted by Canadian designer Erdem Moralioglu, she helped pay tribute to the Great White North — the country she lived in for seven years while filming her hit TV show Suits. The 37-year-old royal also paid homage to her mom, Doria Ragland, because her coat was adorned with black floral embellishments that are known as the “Doria beaded rose embroidery.” The look additionally perfectly matched her gorgeous $587 black Deneuve heels by Aquazzura.

Meghan adores Canada so much that she often wears outfits by Canadian designers. She previously sported a stunning blush pink trench coat dress by Canadian label Nonie in July 2018. “Seeing Meghan wear the NONIE Trench Dress today with such elegance and grace is beyond exciting!” Nina Kharey, the founder of NONIE, previously told People. “Her continuous support of Canadian brands is remarkable, and it is a true honor to be the first Canadian based ready-to-wear designer she has worn since her wedding earlier this year.”

Meghan’s royal outfits have reportedly cost the royal family a pretty penny. According to the Daily Mail, Meghan spent $211,000 on her outfits for her first royal tour with Prince Harry in the fall of 2018. As for who covered the costs, royal expert Katie Nicholl said Prince Charles is actually the one who footed the bill.

“It does fall, now that she is married into the royal family, to [Prince Charles] … to cover the cost of her working royal wardrobe,” Nicholl previously told Entertainment Tonight. “Meghan is now an ambassador for the royal family. Look at the publicity she has brought in [during the] run up to the wedding. I’d argue that’s worth every penny.”

We can’t wait to see what Meghan wears next!
