After a challenging year involving a cancer diagnosis and two international adoptions, The Little Couple's Dr. Jen Arnold and Bill Klein renewed their wedding vows in a surprise ceremony!
Six years after the pair first tied the knot, Bill planned the entire April 27 event as a present for his wife.
The duo were surrounded by 50 friends and family, including their two children — Will, 4, and Zoey, 2 — on a beach in Galveston, TX near their Houston home.
"It turned out great," Bill said of the big day. "She was so surprised. It has been a crazy year, good and bad, and we came out unscathed. I really wanted to make it happen and do something special for Jen."
The couple were hit with news of Jen's rare cancer diagnosis late last year, around the same time they adopted Zoey from India. And while Bill had more time to bond with his new daughter, Jen struggled through intense chemo treatments.
That's one of the reasons the vow renewal was so important to Bill. "It was wonderful…more beautiful than I could believe," Jen said of her gift. "Being on the beach and having the kids there, it was definitely different this time around."
Bill began the surprise with a proposal on one knee and ended it with a beautiful reception at the Hotel Galvez & Spa. The businessman even organized a special kids station complete with corn dogs, chicken nuggets and a cupcake-decorating area to keep the little ones entertained.
"[He] took me completely by surprise and it was in a good way," the neonatologist told People magazine. "I don't know how he got all of our family and friends there. It blew me away."
You can catch the couple's vow renewal on The Little Couple season finale, airing June 17 on TLC.
