LeAnn Rimes married actor Eddie Cirbrian in 2011, two years after the pair met on the set of the Hallmark film Northern Lights, sparking quite the media frenzy, as they were each married at the time. But now the singer is opening about what it’s like to be part of a blended family.

LeAnn, 36, recently sat down with Fox News to talk about her Hallmark TV movie, It’s Christmas, Eve, where she plays an interim school superintendent who feels the school’s music program needs to be cut. “There’s music involved. We [her and Hallmark] talked about music in schools and how important that is, and how it’s the first thing that really gets cut,” LeAnn told the outlet. “[Music] is a huge part of my life… and I did want to talk about that,” LeAnn said, adding that the blended family aspect was also discussed.

“I have a stepdad in the film, and my love interest Liam (Tyler Hynes) has a daughter,” LeAnn continued. “I have two stepsons that are 15 and 11.” LeAnn is now a stepmom to Eddie’s two children, Mason and Jake. Eddie was previously married to Brandi Glanville from 2001 to 2010.

“It’s something that’s important for me to shed light on — the blended family environment in a really positive way because it’s not something that gets talked about very often,” the “How Do I Live” singer added. “So those are two things I really wanted to highlight and they were 100 percent down.”

LeAnn did admit that “some” of the film did hit close to home, saying, “So obviously with having the love interest have a daughter, but like I said it’s not on the nose,” adding that she still “definitely relate.” “I know how that first kind of meeting and having a kid kind of involved in your life – it can be a little bit of a juggling act,” LeAnn revealed.

LeAnn was also asked if there were any issues joining Eddie’s family at first, and she noted, that “it’s a very individualized situation and it can also be a delicate one.” Earlier in this year at the 2018 Hallmark Channel Summer TCA, she told the outlet, “I think challenges. There’s always been challenges. There’s always challenges whenever you’re trying to blend any kind of family dynamic, but my husband and I have been married for seven years now, and we seem to have done okay. I think we’re doing alright. Things are pretty calm.”
