The 64-year-old Yellowstone actor is a dad to daughters Annie, Lily and Grace, and sons Joe, Liam, Cayden and Hayes from three different relationships.
Though Kevin has admitted it’s at times difficult to have “two sets of children” — his kids range in age from 9 to 35! — he wouldn’t have it any other way. “As [my] children interact together, there’s always this little bit of, ‘Do you care for us now as much as you do them?’ That’s just a natural thing that happens, and you have to talk about how big love is. The ability to be able to love somebody else doesn’t mean there’s less love for you. Love seems to be always able to hang on to as many people as needs to be in that circle,” he confessed in a previous interview with Mom.me.
“It almost seemed impossible to love the first [child] any more than you loved them. And then suddenly the second one comes, and you think there’s so much room for love. There’s so much room,” the Field of Dreams star continued. “And that’s the way it is with children, and if there was any, perhaps jealousy that existed, I basically reminded [my older kids] that they were going to have twice as long with me on this planet. I said, ‘Look, they’re not going to have what you had,’ and at that point, they all just embraced each other.”
During a sit-down on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Oscar winner admitted his three youngest kids are “not really” aware of what he does for a living but shared a funny anecdote about his littlest daughter, Grace, once seeing him onscreen. “She’s the one that puts me in my place for sure … [one time] I was watching [my movie] Black or White and there’s this moment where I’m coming out of a pool … and she came in and sat next to me … and she goes, ‘Dad, you’ve got a fat belly!’ And I tried to explain to her character development, that I was going to be grandpa [in the film],” he joked. How cute!
