Now that Meghan Markle is officially a member of the British monarchy, her new sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, has not only made the Duchess of Sussex feel welcome in the royal family but has quickly become one of Meghan’s best friends.

“Kate has taken Meghan under her wing. She is showing Meghan all the ropes of royal life. They’re both extremely intelligent women who share a lot in common,” an insider exclusively told Closer Weekly in the magazine’s latest issue, on newsstands now.

“[Kate] is always offering Meghan advice. She gave her pal tips on perfecting the royal handshake and curtsying and how to behave around [Queen Elizabeth],” the source continued.

The pair’s sweet friendship was more than apparent when Kate, 36, and Meghan, also 36, recently stepped out for their first royal engagement without their husbands Prince William and Prince Harry at Wimbledon. “They had a blast. They were giggling away in the royal box,” the insider told Closer.

“Kate loves Meghan’s quick-witted personality and when it comes to joking around, they bounce off each other,” the source shared. “They discuss everything from politics to charity work and how they want to make the world a better place.”

Now that they’re both living in London’s Kensington Palace, Kate and Meghan enjoy “girls time” together and “often organize dinner parties and invite their closest friends.” Despite their busy royal schedules, the Duchesses try to catch up at least once a week and Meghan “loves going to Kate’s apartment to see [Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis].”

Though Meghan seems to be adjusting well to her new royal life, the insider revealed the former actress is still often homesick for LA. “Whenever this happens, Kate goes to every effort to make Meghan welcome and reminds her she has a family in London who all adore her,” the source explained.

Thankfully, Meghan also has the love and support of her mom, Doria Ragland. “Meghan FaceTimes Doria at least twice a week,” the insider told Closer.

With Harry, Kate, and William by her side, Meghan will no doubt rise to the occasion of serving the royal family as a working member of the monarchy. “Meghan is determined to use her position as the Duchess of Sussex to promote a number of charities. Helping children is a priority for her,” the source shared. We can’t wait to see Meghan continue to blossom in her new role and royal life!
