Hugh Jackman, 50, has been married to his wife Deborra-lee Furness, 63, since 1996, this after meeting her in 1995 on the set of Australian TV show Correlli. And with a relationship that’s more than 20 years old, you’d figure there would have been some downs. Well Hugh had no problem revealing to everyone that Deborra-lee wanted to dump him. Yes, someone actually wanted to dump Hugh.

Hugh recently appeared on the podcast Aussies in Hollywood with Jenny Cooney, a podcast name that if read too fast may end up looking like something else. On this podcast, Hugh shares how it was dating Deborra-lee. “I knew very early, I knew before Deb knew. Even when she tried to break up with me, I knew,” the Australian actor explained. “She kind of [broke up with me], a little bit. Early on, three weeks in. I managed to talk her out of it, thank God. I’m a very indecisive person, Deb really knows this about me. I can count on my hand the amount of times in my life anything has felt that clear to me, and when it happens it’s such a relief for me. I just knew 100 percent, I even knew when she was trying to work out reasons to break up with me.”

Well obviously Deborra-lee decided to stick with Hugh and all has been well since then. The pair eventually adopted two children, Oscar, who is now 18, and Ava, who is 13. And while Deborra-lee may have tried to break it off with Hugh early on that didn’t stop Hugh from telling the world just how much he’s into his wife as he recently became emotional while speaking about her during a speech.

“Life actually happens in between that. Life happens when the camera is not going,” Hugh said in the speech at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. “You [Deborra-lee] believed in me when I couldn’t. You’ve loved me with a passion and a depth that I didn’t even know existed — and I don’t think I felt that I deserved. You have pushed and encouraged me when I was scared to venture out. You have smiled me into smiling. You have sung me into singing. You have loved me into loving and like everything I do in my life, I share this with you. I love you.”

Yeah, I don’t think this marriage will be falling apart anytime soon.
