Yes, most people get emotional when they talk about their spouse because they think about all the years of happiness they lost being married, but not good old Hugh Jackman. That man is a saint, and he made sure to let his wife, Deborra-lee Furness, know just how much she means to him.
Hugh, 50, was given kudos by all on Monday when his movie career was paid tribute with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film. Man, try putting that long award name on a frame. And while that is quite the honor, Hugh was more focused on talking about his wife of 22 years. And what did Hugh do? Well, he pretty much made every woman in that room turn to their husband and say, “Why don’t you ever do that for me?”
“Life actually happens in between that. Life happens when the camera is not going,” Hugh said, as every other husband in there felt smaller and smaller. “You [Deborra-lee] believed in me when I couldn’t. You’ve loved me with a passion and a depth that I didn’t even know existed — and I don’t think I felt that I deserved. You have pushed and encouraged me when I was scared to venture out. You have smiled me into smiling. You have sung me into singing. You have loved me into loving and like everything I do in my life, I share this with you. I love you.”

How anyone can dislike Hugh is beyond me. The man is a national treasure. He also currently has a spot reserved on my man-crush list. And this isn’t the first time that Hugh has proudly talked about his wife as he once mentioned how he and Deborra-lee “clicked right away.”
“I think she probably first fell in love with me when I sang ‘You and I’ from the musical Chess,” Hugh said. “Deb will still ask me to sing it for her at home, although she’s usually a bit tipsy.”
“There was something that clicked between us right away,” Hugh added. “It was the feeling you get when you sense this connection that tells you this is the kind of woman you want in your life.”
Hugh can currently be seen in The Front Runner out today. He can also be seen as your wife’s phone wallpaper.
