Our hearts are broken for Justin Theroux and Jennifer AnistonThe Leftovers star took to social media in the early hours on Monday, July 29, to share the gut-wrenching news — and seemingly spark rumors that the two reunited — that the beloved dog they shared as a married couple, Dolly, had sadly passed away.

“Tonight, at sunset, after a heroic struggle … our most loyal family member and protector, Dolly A. laid down her sword and shield,” Justin, 47, wrote in a beautiful tribute he shared to Instagram. “She was surrounded by her entire family.” Be sure to scroll with the right arrow to see more photos (but be prepared).

Along with the heartfelt message, Justin also shared a series of pics from a service for the adorable pet, who can be seen laying on blankets while covered in gorgeous flower petals. “‘The one that never deserts, the one that never proves ungrateful… is the dog— faithful and true, even in death.’ -George Vest,” he quoted. He also added the hashtags “adopt don’t shop” and “rescue dog” at the end of his caption.

The majority of photos showed the white German shepard being honored during her final minutes, but it also showed Justin holding a woman’s hand — hands that many fans assume belong to Jen, 50, considering they shared the dog throughout their marriage. Jen even once told Jimmy Kimmel she named the pup after Dolly Parton!

Fans of the Parks and Recreation actor and the Cake actress took to the comment section to send their condolences during this heartbreaking time. “Oh man, this is the saddest [and] most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Sorry for your loss,” one fan gushed. “Aw no! I can’t believe it. Absolutely heartbroken for you and Jen! She has now crossed the rainbow bridge and will look down on you both,” wrote another.

Even Jen’s super close pal and former Friends costar Courteney Cox left a sweet message on behalf of their furry loss. “We love you dolly,” Courteney, 55, commented alongside broken heart emojis.

Justin and Jen first met in 2007 on the set of Tropic Thunder. Rumors of a brewing romance were first fueled in May 2011 just months before they officially began dating and moved in together. The couple was engaged a little over a year later in August 2012 and were married three years later in August 2015. However, they sadly announced their split in February 2018.

“We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship,” they said in a joint statement at the time. “Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.”

Even though Jen and Justin aren’t together anymore, we’re so happy to see they can amicably reunite for special occasions like bidding their final farewell to their beloved dog. Our hearts are with them during this tragic time!
