Singer Kelly Clarkson wasn’t the only star who skipped the 2019 Grammys on Sunday, February 10 — John Legend was absent from the 61st annual awards show, too! Just before the red carpet began, John’s famous wife, Chrissy Teigen, took to Twitter to joke about why her hubby was staying home from the Grammys this year.

“No Grammys for us today. John got [an] EGOT and egot lazy,” Chrissy, 33, joked in the caption of a photo of John, 40, snuggled under a pile of blankets at home on the couch. She later followed up the message with another tweet that read, “I’m so proud of this.” See Chrissy’s funny post about John and the Grammys below!

As Chrissy mentioned, John became an EGOT winner last year when he took home an Emmy at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards in LA in September 2018 for his work in the TV special Jesus Christ Superstar. An EGOT winner is a star who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and a Tony award throughout his or her career. As a singer, John has won an impressive 10 Grammys and has been nominated for the award 28 times. He won his Oscar in 2015 for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song for “Glory” for the film Selma and won his Tony for his production of Jitney.

As we mentioned, John wasn’t the only music star to skip tonight’s Grammys as Kelly Clarkson was also MIA during tonight’s awards show. The American Idol alum took to Twitter before the show began to explain her absence.
