A glimmer of hope is on the horizon for all the fans of HGTV‘s Fixer Upper, who were devastated when Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines announced in Sept. 2017 that Season 5 would be their last. The power couple, who runs a multifaceted company while raising five children, told People that they “never rule anything out” when asked if their return to TV is out of the question.

“The show was amazing and we are so thankful for it, but it’s also a whirlwind where, if you are not careful, it will flat run you over,” Chip added. “You can’t believe how out of gas you are.”

Chip, 43, and Joanna, 40, can seriously do it all. Between running a magazine titled The Magnolia Journal, their “Hearth & Hand With Magnolia” line sold exclusively at Target, and Joanna’s new design book, Homebody: A Guide to Creating Spaces You Never Want to Leave, it wouldn’t be surprising if they decided to return to TV.

The HGTV alums began filming Fixer Upper in 2013 and have been juggling their multiple responsibilities ever since. It wasn’t until after they concluded the series that they realized how burnt out they really were. “Being in front of the camera is a different experience than running a business, and we run businesses,” Chip explained. “That’s who we are.”

The memories that the couple made from filming Fixer Upper will live on forever, especially since Chip and Jo involved their brood in the filming of the show. In March, just a couple months before the conclusion of the series, an episode called “How We Got Here” aired. The footage in the episode included Chip and Joanna reminiscing on the time they spent filming with their four kids (at the time). “It seems like there’s never a dull moment. I don’t think a lot of people get to say, ‘I get to take the kids to work,'” Chip shared.

Fixer Upper gave Chip and Joanna the opportunity to work and spend time with their growing kids, Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 7. “It is crazy when I look at these kids, they’re growing so fast,” the brown-haired beauty dished to People in March. “So for us, whether it’s just ice cream or playing games, we gotta make those moments count.” Since filming wrapped in 2017, Chip and Joanna welcomed their fifth child, baby Crew, this past June.

If you watched Fixer Upper, you know how important family is to the Gaines family. “They’re so young, and we want to give them the chance to have a normal childhood,” Joanna added, honing in on how much it meant to film with her children. “Family is the most important thing in the world.” If Joanna and Chip return to TV, whether it be for Fixer Upper or a completely new show, you better believe we’ll be tuning in every week!
