Imagine having your life play out before your eyes. As Cher sat in NYC’s Neil Simon Theatre watching a recent preview performance of her autobiographical musical, The Cher Show, she didn’t have to imagine. The “I Got You Babe” singer reflected on her life and all the success she’s had over the years.

And even at 72 years old, the music icon is back on top. So what does she owe her achievements to? “I just don’t stop,” Cher admitted. “I think that’s my best quality.”

The “Goddess of Pop” co-produced the Broadway show, and with her very own eyes, Cher was able to watch key moments from her history were being recreated onstage. “It’s my story,” Cher told Elle. “I want it to be honest and right and funny and sad, like my life.” And it must have worked! Several witnesses dished that Cher apparently became “too emotional” while watching the performance and had to leave before intermission.

There’s no doubt it’s been an incredible time to be Cher. In addition to her hit play, this month the 41st annual Kennedy Center Honors paid tribute to her legendary career. “This is a different kind of love song, a different thing,” she said gratefully of the Honors to The Washington Post. “I always wanted it.”

But she’s not done yet. Currently, the fashion diva is prepping for her just announced 2019 Here We Go Again US tour. Although she’s done a series of Las Vegas residencies, this will be her first national touring production in five years. “I’ve been working out…so hard every day, harder now than ever,” she revealed. “When I see them doing me, I’m astonished,” Cher said of the actresses in The Cher Show.

The star, who is expected to perform some ABBA tunes from her recent album Dancing Queen on tour, has hinted that another album of ABBA covers might be in the works, too.

While some of her showbiz peers are starting to wind down, Cher continues to wind up at work and at play. “Even though me and my girlfriends have responsibilities, I don’t see any of us as grown-ups, but more like older teenagers,” she confided to Heat magazine. “I think having fun keeps your soul young.” This living legend may not be able to turn back time, but she obviously has an amazing future ahead of her.
