Wait, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Son Baby Archie Was Actually at Trooping the Colour After All?!
Remember when Meghan Markle couldn’t wipe the smile off her face during this year’s Trooping the Colour festivities? Well, we may now know why! According to a source close to the royal family, her and Prince Harry‘s baby son Archie Harrison — who was born on May 6 — was reportedly at the celebration even though we never actually saw him!
“Archie was at Trooping the Colour,” the royal insider revealed to Us Weekly following the June 8 event. “[It] was a chance for him to meet some of his cousins.” Although it was reported that Meg, 37, and Harry, 34, left the nearly 2-month-old tot at home, we may now have an explanation for the couple’s absence during some parts of the parade.
“The reason Harry and Meghan didn’t appear on the balcony when the Queen returned back to Buckingham Palace was because [Meghan] was breast-feeding,” the insider explained. The Duchess of Sussex’s appearance at this year’s Trooping the Color — a celebration for Queen Elizabeth‘s birthday — marks her first royal outing since becoming a mom to her beautiful baby boy.
During the parade, the former Suits actress was aglow as she and the Duke of Sussex waved together at the crowd while making their way along the parade route in a carriage. The royal couple was also joined by Kate Middleton and Prince Charles‘s wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
According to the source, Meghan had a rough time being away from her little bundle of joy — even if it was just for a short time. “She has spent almost every moment with him and saying goodbye was very difficult,” the insider dished. “But Meghan truly wanted to be at the celebration for the queen.”
Although she missed Archie, Meg had a great time at the parade with her fellow royal family members — especially including her niece and nephews! “Meghan loved seeing all the other royal children and was doting on them,” the source said of Kate and Prince William‘s kids, Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1 — who showed up Trooping the Colour for the first time this year.
We hope to see Archie at next year’s Trooping the Colour!
