Gena Rowlands and Debbie Reynolds are being honored for their work in showbiz in a very special way.
Gena, 85, and Debbie, 83, will each receive an honorary Oscar on Nov. 14 at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' annual Governors Awards ceremony in Hollywood, The Academy announced on Thursday, Aug. 27.

Gena — most known for starring in films The Notebook, Gloria and A Woman Under the Influence — will receive an Academy Award for her career achievements, while Debbie will accept the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

“[Debbie is] a true American star. What is also special about her is with all of her fame through stage and television and certainly as a film actress, how much of her time she has put forth to better other people’s lives,” Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs said in a statement.

“We thought it was so important to recognize that she has been at the forefront of the mental health issue for such a long time," she added.
