Rod Durham, a reality star known for previously starring on the ABC show Extreme Weight Loss, has sadly died. He was 52-years-old.
The high school drama teacher was found dead in a Fort Lauderdale, Fla. motel room — where he was vacationing during his school's spring break — over the weekend, according to the Tallahasse Democrat. His cause of death is unknown at this time.
Rod, then 450 pounds, previously competed on Extreme Weight Loss in 2014 and lost nearly 180 pounds during his time on the hit series.
"Heaven just got a lot brighter today when Rod entered the pearly gates," Extreme Weight Loss trainer Heidi Powell wrote via Instagram on Monday, March 14 following the news of Rod's passing. "Rod, you will be missed terribly. Everything from your kindness, to your warm smile and bear hugs, to your friendship, to you extraordinary ability to make ANYONE (including me) feel special. YOU are special. And will never be forgotten."
Our thoughts are with Rod's family and friends during this difficult time.
