Co-Hosts Sara Haines And Michael Strahan Dish On Their New Talk Show ‘GMA Day’
Attention viewers — there’s a new show in town! That said, many fans are wondering: What is GMA Day? The new ABC show premiered on Monday, Sept. 10, and stars popular TV personalities Michael Strahan and Sara Haines.
The series — which will air weekdays on ABC at 1 p.m. EST — is set to feature prominent interviews as well as lifestyle and exercise segments. “There will be takeaways,” Sara revealed in a new interview with People. “You will get to learn, but first and foremost you will smile and laugh through this show.”

The show kicked off today with a cooking segment from former The Chew star Carla Hall (at this time, it’s unclear if she’ll have a full-time spot on the show that took her series’ place), a guest appearance from singer Pharrell Williams, and a performance from singer Jordan Smith.
And the fan response to episode one was great! “
#GMADAY is now my favorite tv show @GMA @sarahaines @michaelstrahan,” one fan wrote. “ #GMADay is already ?,” another added.
During the sit-down with People, Michael also shared his and Sara’s mindset for the new show. “Our biggest thing is to not screw it up and get too fancy with it,” he shared. “Just us being together and our relationship and our personalities blended into good news and happy news for the day.”
He added, “All the things that people like and we like — we like to learn things, too, as we go along. Some of these things we’ll learn along with the audience at home. Bring in experts and let them teach us all something new.”
While Michael will still appear on GMA from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. on weekday mornings, Sara previously bid her farewell to The View after two years. On her last day last month, Michael penned a special message to his new co-host. “I know you’re sad to leave The View because you are incredible at the table, but I’m excited because you and I are gonna kick off the new show GMA Day Sept. 10. You’re gonna be incredible there, too,” he shared.
The news of Sara and Michael’s new ABC gig first broke in late July. “Ahhhhhhhh!! Not even sure I can find the words to adequately express how excited I am to sit next to @MichaelStrahan as we embark on this new journey at @GMA #GMADay… it is (and has been) a dream of mine for a LONG time,” Sara wrote on Instagram at the time.
“It’s bittersweet though as I leave @TheViewABC, a place I have called home for the past couple years. A huge thank you to all the viewers and fans who have followed me along the way. I LOVE my View family, but don’t worry, my brand new view is literally down the street,” the mom-of-two continued.
Michael — who famously left Live! with Kelly and Michael in 2016 to instead join the GMA team — also previously took to social media to express his excitement over his new show with Sara. “Tell your friends, tell your family, tell the whole town, shout it from the rooftops! Starting Sept. 10th, @SaraHaines and I will be hosting the 3rd hour of @GoodMorningAmerica! #GMADay #GMA,” the TV star wrote on Instagram at the time. We’re looking forward to many more episodes of GMA Day!
