Someone grab us tissues! Just a few weeks after Sara Haines announced she’d be leaving The View to join a new show called GMA DAY with Michael Strahan, the TV host appeared on her final episode of the talk show — and it was one emotional goodbye, that’s for sure.

During the tearful program on Thursday, Aug. 2, Whoopi Golberg introduced a video of Sara’s most memorable moments on The View. “I knew this one was meant to sit at the table since the first time she guest hosted — co-hosted on The View — and we wanted to show you a couple reasons why this breakup is so hard,” the actress shared before it began.

The clip was a collection of Sara’s most memorable moments on the show — from her joking around with her fellow co-hosts to opening up about postpartum depression, viewers couldn’t help but cry with the 40-year-old after looking back on all the good times.

After the video concluded, Sara received a standing ovation from the entire audience and her co-hosts and they all couldn’t help but chant her name over and over again.

“It has been an honor, a privilege, and an absolute dream to work here at this show,” Sara emotionally revealed before praising her co-hosts. “For anyone who has ever played a sport knows that the best team members are the ones who lift you up and make you better. You guys did that for me.”

The best part? The segment ended with a pre-recorded shout-out from Sara’s new co-host, Michael! “I know you’re sad to leave The View because you are incredible at the table, but I’m excited because you and I are gonna kick off the new show GMA Day September 10. You’re gonna be incredible there, too,” he shared.

The news of Sara and Michael’s new ABC gig first broke on Sunday, July 22. “Ahhhhhhhh!! Not even sure I can find the words to adequately express how excited I am to sit next to @MichaelStrahan as we embark on this new journey at @GMA #GMADay… it is (and has been) a dream of mine for a LONG time,” Sara wrote on Instagram on Monday, July 23.

“It’s bittersweet though as I leave @TheViewABC, a place I have called home for the past couple years. A huge thank you to all the viewers and fans who have followed me along the way. I LOVE my View family, but don’t worry, my brand new view is literally down the street,” the mom-of-two continued.

Michael — who famously left Live! with Kelly and Michael in 2016 to instead join the GMA team — also took to social media to express his excitement over his new show with Sara. “Tell your friends, tell your family, tell the whole town, shout it from the rooftops! Starting September 10th, @SaraHaines and I will be hosting the 3rd hour of @GoodMorningAmerica! #GMADay #GMA,” the TV star wrote on Instagram at the time.

After beginning her career in NBC’s Page Program in the early 2000s, Sara then became a production coordinator for Today. She later worked as the show’s fourth hour contributing correspondent until she left NBC in 2013. That same year, Sara became an ABC News correspondent and the pop news anchor for the weekend edition of Good Morning America.

In 2016, Sara became a permanent co-host on The View alongside Paula Faris, Candace Cameron Bure, Raven-Symoné, Sunny Hostin, Jedediah Bila, Whoopi Goldberg, and Joy Behar. A few days before Sara, Paula also announced she’s leaving The View to take on a new role with ABC News.

However, a report just a few days after Sara quit suggested that her departure may have been due to friction with one of her newer co-hosts Meghan McCain.

ABC sources allegedly told the Daily Mail that “bubbly, upbeat, and super-positive” Sara, 40, found it increasingly difficult to work with “cold and dismissive” Meghan, 33, on the program.

“Sara is such a positive person and brought so much joy to the show. Her infectious energy was refreshing to most and producers because she created a happy environment on set in the midst of chaos,” an insider told the Daily Mail

“But Meghan just wasn’t feeling Sara at all and treated her like she didn’t exist most days,” a source said. Now, Sara is putting The View drama behind her to instead host the new GMA Day alongside Michael, 46. “Joining The View was a dream for Sara until Meghan came on the show. Now, Sara will be able to thrive in a less-toxic environment with Michael, someone she already enjoys working with,” the insider added. We don’t know what really went on behind closed doors at The View, but we know we’ll miss Sara!
