When Meghan Markle showed up for the royal family’s annual Christmas day church services this past December her close friend, Victoria Beckham, was overjoyed to see that the pregnant Duchess of Sussex was glowing in one of her designer dresses.

“I mean she looked so beautiful, it was such a lovely surprise to wake up to on Christmas morning,” the British fashion designer, 44, gushed during her appearance on Live! With Kelly and Ryan on Tuesday, January 28. “You know, I think she’s such a beautiful, strong and wonderful woman — so it was a huge honor!”

For the royal family‘s highly-publicized Christmas outing at Queen Elizabeth‘s Sandringham estate, the 37-year-old Duchess donned a navy, wool-blend, midi-dress designed by Victoria and paired the frock with a matching VB coat and a coordinating fascinator. Meg even tied her holiday look together by carrying a black leather powder box also created by Victoria.

When the Duchess — who is expecting her first child with her husband, Prince Harry — stepped out wearing one of her friend’s gorgeous designs, royal fans were a bit surprised since Meg previously admitted she would never be caught wearing a VB dress.

“Now what I’m starting to learn is, even though things look amazing on the hanger, it doesn’t mean they’re going to look amazing on me,” she once admitted to Glamour UK of her style. “For example, I love Victoria Beckham dresses, but I don’t have the long torso to support that silhouette.”

We’re not surprised that Meghan has changed her mind about wearing Victoria’s dresses, especially since the two became close friends after Meg moved from Los Angeles to the London to be with Harry, 34, in November 2017. The Sussexs are so close with Victoria and her husband, David Beckham, that they even invited them to their lavish royal wedding in May 2018.

A source close to the royal recently told Vanity Fair that Meg isn’t afraid to ask the mom-of-four for fashion advice. “Meghan really likes Victoria’s style and was keen to pick her brains about pulling together a working wardrobe,” the insider revealed. We’re sure we’ll see Meghan wearing lots more of Victoria’s pretty designs in the future!
