For a while there, it looked like Tom Cruise was going to have two ongoing franchises with Mission Impossible and adventures featuring him as Lee Child’s Jack Reacher. Well, let’s hope that Tom is going to be okay with only continuing his impossible missions because he’s been eliminated (sorry, was still in spy mode there) from the latter. While praising the experience of working with the actor on Jack Reacher and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, author Lee Child believes that the time has come for a change, as he related to BBC News: “Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality. Ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it’s a big component of who he is. The idea is that when Reacher walks into a room, you’re all a little nervous just for that first minute. And Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality.”

Lee will be now shopping his novels, and the Jack Reacher character, to other studios and streaming services. For more on Tom Cruise being axed from the project, watch the video above!
