It seems the rumors are true. On Thursday, Oct. 25, it was reported that Megyn Kelly may not be returning to her eponymous talk show following her racist comments earlier this week. And on Friday, Oct. 26, Today seemingly confirmed that the TV personality is on her way out.

“This morning, NBC News host Megyn Kelly is in talks with the network about her imminent departure, according to a source familiar with the situation,” a tweet from the popular morning NBC show read.

According to Fox News, Megyn and her team reportedly aren’t at NBC’s headquarters and are having discussions about her exit over the phone. No further details have been released at this time.

Megyn has been the star of Megyn Kelly Today in the 9 a.m. slot since September 2017 with a reported $69 million three-year contract, but the 47-year-old has not been on the air the past few days following her remarks about “blackface.” On Thursday and today, pre-recorded shows were aired in her time slot opposed to new episodes starring Megyn. “Given the circumstances, Megyn Kelly Today will be on tape the rest of the week,” an NBC spokeswoman said Thursday.

Following backlash from her statements on live television, Megyn took to her series to publicly apologize to angered viewers. “I want to begin with two words: I’m sorry,” she said at the top of Wednesday morning’s show. “You may have heard that yesterday we had a conversation about political correctness and Halloween costumes… I defended the idea (of blackface), saying that as long it was respectful and part of a Halloween costume, that it seemed OK. Well, I was wrong, and I am sorry.”

Megyn added, “I have never been a PC kind of person,” but she learned from the backlash over her statements that “it is not OK for (blackface) to be part of any costume, Halloween or otherwise. This past year has been so painful for many people of color,” she continued. “The country feels so divided and I have no wish to add to that pain and offense. I believe this is a time for more understanding, more love, more sensitivity and honor, and I want to be part of that. Thank you for listening and for helping me listen too.”

What’s next for Megyn is unknown, but many are wondering if she’ll return to FOX amid all this controversy. Only time will tell.
