Some folks say never to meet your heroes, but don’t tell that to Richard E. Grant who fulfilled his dream of meeting legendary singer Barbra Streisand.

The 61-year-old was quite giddy upon seeing the icon, 76, introduce Best Picture nominee BlacKkKlansman at the Oscars on Sunday, February 24. And if her appearance on stage wasn’t good enough, the actor even got to meet the hitmaker. The Can You Ever Forgive Mestar even shared an Instagram post with his happy reaction on showcase.

“Being Oscar nominated was pretty amazing, but meeting with @barbrastreisand and having a proper conversation was an absolute astonishment. 40 carat Gold,” he captioned the photo with. The adorable lever just hit ’10’ with that one. But Richard wasn’t done quite yet as he had another interaction with Babs, this time a face-to-face one. He took to Twitter to share the picture. Have a look!

“Suitably blurry-eyed selfie with @BarbraStreisand who was EVERYTHING I’d hoped, expected & dreamt she’d be. QUEEN BEE,” Richard tweeted, still looking quite happy of course. The Funny Girl star replied to this cute love-fest by tweeting out a photo of her, Richard and Melissa McCarthy.

“With @melissamccarthy and @RichardEGrant at the Oscars last night,” she wrote with the tweet. This has been a longtime coming for Richard and his idol. It was just last month that the Downton Abbey alum revealed that he had finally received a message back from the performer 47 years after sending her a fan letter.

As a lifelong fan of someone, you’ll understand what it meant for me to take this snap outside the home of @BarbraStreisand,” he wrote in a tweet alongside a snap of his four-decade old letter. “Asked Security for permission & he replied, ‘It’s a public road, but thanks for asking.’ Wrote her this letter when I was 14. My wife is very understanding!”

We’re just happy that Richard finally got to meet someone so special to him!
