Barbra Streisand has been busy — busy writing her new memoir. “I write in longhand with a soft pencil,” Barbra revealed to The New Yorker. “I like to erase. I can rewrite.” And although there’s been plenty of publications about the movie star, she admitted she’s “kept journals, especially in the earlier years.”

Barbra has been writing for four years, which makes us believe we have a lot to look forward to in this upcoming publication. “She is a well-known perfectionist and she is on her own schedule,” a friend noted. “She believes she’s earned that and she feels obligated to do the best for her fans.”

We’re not surprised it’s taken Barb this long to complete her memoir. We mean, she has lived a remarkable life thus far, even though she has to sometimes refresh her memory on how fabulous it’s been. “You know, I have to look myself up,” she explained. “I have letters and things that one of my assistants — who’s been with me, God, over 40 years — started when she was 19. She sends me wonderful things that I forgot.” She added, “I tend to forget the good things written about me and remember the bad. That’s a critical flaw I have.”

The only thing that can make the 76-year-old take a break from her busy work? Love. And the Meet The Fockers star has found just that with her husband of over 20 years, James Brolin“On the one hand, I am — or I was — ambitious,” Barbra confided. “On the other hand, if I was having a great love affair or something, I’d say, ‘I don’t want to do anything else.’ Searching for personal happiness was more important.”

And even though she’s not sure how much longer we’ll have to wait for “her side” of things with the publishing of the memoir, Barbra can’t wait to finally share her own story with everyone. “I like to live in the present, not the past,” she confessed. “[But] I have lots and lots of stories.” We can’t wait!
